What is the Saskatchewan Express Entry Program?

Saskatchewan immigration through Express Entry is a points based profile creation system which allows candidates to create their profile in the pool and submit their interest to migrate to Saskatchewan. Saskatchewan Express Entry stream is for skilled workers who want to live in the province as a permanent resident and have a valid express entry profile in the federal government’s Express entry program.

Following are the minimum requirements to be eligible for SINP Express Entry stream:

  • Score a minimum of 60 points out of 100 in the SINP point assessment grid.
  • Have a language test results that meet the minimum requirements of the express entry program i.e 6 per band in IELTS
  • Must have completed post-secondary education, training or apprenticeship that must be comparable to the Canadian education system
  • Must have work experience in a skilled occupation that is not listed in the SINP excluded occupation list
  • Work experience must be in the same field as your educational qualifications
  • May be required to provide proof of Professional Status or proof of eligibility for Licensure (for regulated occupations or those with professional certification standards in Canada and/or in Saskatchewan)
  • Have proof of settlement funds and a settlement plan
What is an International Skilled Worker Expression of Interest (EOI)?

If you are eligible for Saskatchewan Express entry or Occupation in-demand stream, you will be required to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI). Submitting the EOI is the very first step to apply for a provincial nomination through SINP.

EOI is a type of pre-application that allows you to fill an online form with all your credentials and qualifications. Once you successfully complete your EOI, it will be submitted into the SINP EOI pool with the other candidates’ EOIs. There is no fee to submit an Expression of interest.

Based on your credentials, you will be awarded points according to the SINP points assessment grid. These points will determine your rank in the EOI pool. Higher ranked EOI profiles will then issue invitations through a regular round of invitations.

How to apply for Saskatchewan Express Entry?

For you to apply under Saskatchewan Express Entry, you will be required to submit an EOI. Eligible applicants who meet the selection criteria will receive an invitation to submit an application. The scores assigned to an EOI profile will determine the probability of receiving an invitation. Those who obtain high scores in the candidate pool will be more likely to be invited to apply.

You will then be able to apply for provincial nomination. On getting the approval of a successful provincial nomination, your express entry profile will be awarded 600 CRS points. These many points guarantee an ITA to apply for a Canada PR visa to the IRCC.

What is the SINP’s Eligibility criteria?

Now, there is another sub-category for immigrants who do not have a valid express entry profile but have work experience in an occupation that is in-demand in the province. This stream is the International Skilled Worker – Occupations in-demand.

To be eligible under this category, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Have score minimum of 60 points out of 100 in SINP point’s assessment grid
  • Have minimum CLB – Canadian Language Benchmark level 4
  • Have completed post-secondary education, training or apprenticeship that’s comparable to that in Canada
  • Have work experience that is highly skilled and not on the SINP’s Excluded Occupation List
  • Your work experience must be related to your occupation and education
  • You may need to provide proof of Professional Status or of eligibility for Licensure
  • Have proof of settlement funds and a settlement plan

If you can meet the above requirements, you will be successfully nominated by the province of Saskatchewan for permanent residence.

What is the Occupation in-demand list under Saskatchewan Immigration nominee program?

Last year SINP expanded its list for in-demand occupations associated with both it’s Express Entry and Occupation In-demand categories, There are more than 200 occupations in-demand in Saskatchewan

Rather than listing occupations that are now eligible, SINP listed 130 occupations that are now not eligible, publishing an Excluded Occupation List.
